Incredible experience away from the noise and the chaos of the city. A true “behind the scenes” dive into how traditional Morrocan pottery pieces are elaborated, all the way from raw clay to the end result. We had the chance to speak to the artisans running the workshop, absolutely talented and down-to earth people, who made us feel at home during the entire visit. Must-do for anyone who wants to see what the true Morrocan way of life looks like.

We are so grateful for being invited to this experience. We were received and treated as family in their house and business, with the privilege of knowing deeply the traditions and hospitality of down to earth people and getting to learn how they work and earn their lives. I’ll come back not only for their art and the value of their work, but for the kindness and open heart of this people.

Best day in Marrakech because of this experience. Truly connected with what we are missing in this modern world: hand work and continuing our traditions for a deep happiness in the heart. These people know what life is about and don’t loose time with other things. I loooved them and what they do, doing pottery is something I would like to keep on doing myself because it brought alive the artist on me. I completely recommend it to do real traveling, not just superficial tourism.

To make a long story short, if you’re thinking about booking this tour, do it! There are so many wonderful things to say, so to start I’ll with talking about Hassan. He is so kind and a fountain of knowledge. You can feel his passion for what he does as he explains the history and process of pottery making. Our experience started from the moment we were picked up, during the drive to the studio, Hassan explained some things about the area we were traveling to. Now onto the workshop itself, we got to work with a master potter who worked on tiles for the Katoubia Mosque! I had an opportunity to make pottery the old fashioned way and on the modern electric machine. Of course, we were served a delicious cup of tea at the halfway point. The truth is that there are so many tour operators that you can choose from, the Art Travel Morocco difference is the passion for what they do. Hassan was also kind enough to provide us with recommendations on additional places ro go during our trip to Marrakech and we had the best time.

My daughter in law and I did the pottery and ceramic work shop with Hassan today and it was a wonderful experience and highly educational and entertaining. Hassan is passionate and enthusiastic about all art, architecture and traditional skills. He has excellent communication ability and really has connected with a range of different experts and life long skilled craftsmen and women. He took us to meet some of them and we were treated to a great handson demonstration and allowed to make some pieces ourselves under expert guidance. Would highly recommend you boos a course.

Definitely the best art experience I’ve ever had! So much fun and so informative. Hassan was an amazing guide with a true love for what he does! We worked with a master potter which was exciting, especially to be able to watch someone who devoted their life’s work to art still creating and teaching what they know! I now appreciate pottery more, another beautiful thing about Morocco!

I spent a wonderful morning with Hassan on this pottery excursion. His knowledge of the art world is extensive, along with architecture and many other aspects of life in Morocco. The pottery experience was really interesting. As an amateur potter, I was able to learn from a master. I could have stayed at the wheel all day.

I highly recommend this excursion for anyone with a love for crafts, or indeed anyone at all. I am also sure that other excursions offered would be equally rewarding, thanks to Hassan’s knowledge and friendly approach.

My daughter and I had such a fun morning with Hassan. From the moment he collected us through to the end of the excursion, we never stopped laughing. We learned a lot about the city in the short drive to the pottery workshop and then were treated to an interactive (definitely hands-on!) session. The master potter was a joy to watch and was so helpful when my masterpiece failed to materialise! The process of making the pottery and painting other pieces was so therapeutic. Cannot recommend this trip,and Hassan specifically, enough. You will not be disappointed.

Very unique experience in an extremely kind environment! The guide gives valuable information and you get a lot of time to do it yourself with the help from a real master! Not only that, but we received so many handmade gifts and get to take our own potteries home when delivered in Marrakech town after a few days! At the end you get to enjoy some tea with delicious desserts. Definitely a 10/10 experience!!!

Thank you Hassan for the special experience. We loved hear your well explained history about morrocoan ceramics, arts. Me and my girlfriend loved everything about it, making some cermaic directly ourselves was fun and unique. The little morrocoan sweets and menthe tea was very delicious and all the people there have a big and warm heart !!!!! We felt so welcomed and loved. The gifts we brought with us will always remain in our home and heart. Much love and 100% reccomended !
